High pressure keeps the weather dry and chilly in much of the UK this weekend. Things begin to change in the north west as disturbances moving in from the Atlantic bring an increasing risk of rain. Next sees week a transition back to unsettled weather with periods of rain and strong winds likely in all regions.

Saturday starts with a widespread and sharp frost. The rest of the of the day will be dry and bright in most of the UK but near to the east coast there could be an odd shower. Also, cloud builds in the west and north of Scotland with patchy spells of rain and hill snow developing.
Maximum temperatures range from 4C (39F) to 8C (46F).
Tonight clear spells lead to a widespread frost in England and Wales. Cloudier skies are likely in Northern Ireland and Scotland, with patchy outbreaks of rain in its northern half.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain become heavier in Scotland but there will still be some dry period. Damp conditions may extend into Northern Ireland at times too. England and Wales remain dry and bright. Rather cold.
During Monday outbreaks of rain continue to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland. England and Wales should stay mostly dry and bright.
Central and eastern England probably hang on to the dry conditions on Tuesday. Other parts of the UK have patchy spells of rain. It will generally be milder. Winds strengthen, particularly in the west.
The rest of the week is looking unsettled and very windy at times. Bands of rain push across all regions and in the north there could be sleet or snow over high ground.
