Tuesday starts dry across the UK but it is murky in much of the south and east. In the north and west clearer skies have led to a patchy frost. Through the day the fog gradually lifts, although it may linger near to the east coast. Sunny periods develop widely and after the chilly start it will feel pleasant in the afternoon sunshine.
Maximum temperatures range from 8C (46F) to 12C (54F).
Tonight it stays dry in much of the country with patchy fog and ground frost returning. The exception is the south west where showers are likely to develop later on.

Tomorrow showery spells of rain affect southern and possibly central Britain. At times they could be heavy. The north has a dry and bright day.
During Thursday morning showers in southern England clear eastwards. In the north it turns colder and wintry showers push into the east. By the end of the day the colder air will be feeding into southern counties.
Friday and the weekend are looking rather cold in much of the UK. To begin with there could be scattered sleet or snow showers in eastern Britain. They quickly fade away and daytime temperatures edge up, particularly in then north where it could be quite mild again by Sunday.
Next week a transition to more unsettled weather takes place. All of the country can expect showers or longer spells of rain. In the north it could be cold enough for sleet or snow at times.
