Most of the UK has a dry and bright day but it will be cloudier in the far north this morning. High pressure keeps things quite settled this weekend, but a weak weather front pushing southwards brings thicker cloud and the risk of a few spots of rain. Things change slowly next week.

Friday starts with patchy outbreaks of rain in the far north. Elsewhere it is dry and chilly with a touch of frost in places. This morning the damp conditions in the far north clear to leave all of the UK dry. Sunny periods develop widely with the best of them in southern and central regions.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) to 12C (54F) in the afternoon.

Settled weather continues

During Sunday thicker cloud could bring an odd spot of rain at times to central and possibly southern regions but it should be mostly dry. The brightest skies will probably be in northern areas and to the south of London. After a chilly start it will be quite mild in the afternoon.

The predominantly settled theme continues on Monday. In the afternoon sunshine it should feel quite warm.

Tuesday is expected to be a fine day in the northern half of the UK. In southern and central Britain there is a risk of showery spells of rain developing later on. It stays mild.
