Central and eastern England have dry weather today but in the north west of the UK there will be further heavy outbreaks of rain. Tonight and tomorrow the rain becomes patchier as it pushes into southern counties. By Thursday high pressure builds and it is expected to bring settled weather with an increasing risk of frost and fog.

Tuesday starts with heavy rain in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere there is a good deal of dry weather, although in Wales and western England thicker cloud is bringing some drizzle. Through the day outbreaks of rain continue to affect the north west. By the evening they probably extend into central and eastern Scotland as well as Wales and north western England. In other areas it remains dry and there should be reasonable spells of sunshine. Windy in the west.

Much of the country has a very mild day with temperatures ranging from 12C (54F) to 14C (57F), but it will be colder in the far north. See the rain radar for the latest view.
