The week ahead brings changeable weather. All regions have some rain but the wettest conditions are likely to be in the north west. There is also a risk of gales. October has been slightly colder than the 30 year average so far but it will be milder at times in the coming days, particularly in the south.

Monday starts with heavy outbreaks in Scotland. Elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day wet weather affects Northern Ireland, as well as much of northern Britain. At times the rain spreads into parts of Wales and western England. Central and eastern areas remain dry but bright spells are likely to be replaced by overcast conditions. Windy in the north and west.

Tonight rain continues in the north. In southern and central regions a band of rain pushes eastwards. Clearer conditions follow into the west.

Tomorrow rain clears eastwards. Dry conditions are then likely in much of the UK but there could be further spells of rain in the north west. It will feel noticeably milder than recently.
During Wednesday persistent spells of rain are likely for a time in southern and central regions but they should clear eastwards. More showery conditions then affect the whole of the UK. Windy in the north west with temperatures generally close to the seasonal average.
A good deal of dry and cool weather is expected on Thursday. There will be a few showers with most of them in the north.
The rest of the week looks changeable. All regions have wet and windy spells but it will be drier at times, particularly in the south and east. Temperatures often close to the seasonal average.
