Pleasant October afternoon. Posted by brian gaze

A chilly easterly air stream covers the UK as an area of low pressure slips away into continental Europe. There will be showery rain particularly in eastern England. The north west should be mostly dry and bright. During the next few days showers increasingly become restricted to the east but it remains rather cold.

Mostly dry weekend

During Thursday and Friday a few showers are likely in central and eastern England. Other parts of the UK have dry and bright conditions. Temperatures remain a little below the seasonal average.

The weekend brings dry weather to much of the UK but there will be some exceptions. Near to the east coast there is an ongoing risk of showers and in the south west there is the possibility of more prolonged outbreaks of rain for a time. It remains quite chilly.

Early next week it probably turns more unsettled with an increasing risk of wind and rain.
