Wednesday starts with a band of wet weather stretching from north eastern England, down through Wales and into the south west. Ahead of it there are some showers but to the north it is drier. Through the morning outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales. During the afternoon they become heavy in central and eastern counties with showery conditions following into the west. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be mostly dry and bright.
It will feel much colder than recently. Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the north to 17C (63F) in East Anglia and the south eastern corner. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.
Tonight rain slowly clears from eastern counties. Elsewhere there will be clear spells and in Scotland there could be a touch of frost. During the second half of the night wet and windy conditions spread eastwards across much of southern and central Britain. In the south west and near the south coast gales are possible.

Through Friday outbreaks of rain could affect eastern and south eastern England. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells but showers are expected in the west. Temperatures remain low for late September. Quite windy.
The weekend is looking mixed. In the east showery rain is possible at times. There is also a chance of longer spells of rain on Saturday in Wales and south western England.
