Hot weather returning this week

Monday brings a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Tomorrow and Wednesday spells of wet weather affect northern and western regions but in the south east it should be mostly dry. By Thursday temperatures will be soaring and in the south 30C (86F) is likely to be exceeded. Friday is looking hot but the weekend details are uncertain.

Monday starts dry in much of the UK but there a few showers around. Through the day sunny spells develop widely but there will be further showers with the heaviest ones in East Anglia and the south eastern corner.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to 22C (72F) in the south. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers fade away but more persistent outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland. Elsewhere there will be clear spells.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain continue in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The wet conditions probably extend into Wales and north western England. Much of southern and central England remains dry and bright.

Turning hot later in the week

Through Wednesday patchy outbreaks of rain are expected in Northern Ireland and northern England. Later in the day more persistent rain could push into the north west of the UK. Southern and central areas remain dry and warm.

By Thursday it turns a lot warmer. Much of the country has a fine day and in the south temperatures could reach a hot 33C (91F). 

Friday is likely to be even hotter in southern and central regions. Temperatures could climb to 35C (95F) in the south and the warmth will be spreading into northern England. Across Northern Ireland and Scotland there is a risk of rain.   

Forecast details for the weekend are uncertain. Computer models are split with some showing thundery conditions developing and cooler air returning southeastwards. Others keep it hot into next week.
