Patchy outbreaks of rain today

The weather remains mixed today with light spells of rain possible in much of the UK. Tomorrow the risk of rain continues in the north west but elsewhere it will be warmer and drier. During Friday a band of rain steadily pushes southwards across the northern half of the UK. Southern and central regions will be very warm.

Wednesday starts with patchy outbreaks of rain in northern and western areas. Through the day the risk of light spells of rain extends southeastwards. In Wales and south western England sunny spells develop during the afternoon and there could be some brightness in other areas too.

Temperatures range from 16C (61F) in the north west to 22(72F) near the south coast. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight more persistent outbreaks of rain push across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland. There could also be some drizzle in Wales and north western England. In other areas it becomes mainly dry.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain affect north western areas and in western Scotland some heavier bursts are expected. Southern, central and eastern areas have sunny spells and it will be warmer than recently. Near to the south coast temperatures could reach 26C (78F).

Driest and warmest in the south

Friday should be dry and sunny in central and southern counties. In the north a band of rain pushes southeastwards and is followed by brighter conditions. It will be very warm in the south. 

Through the weekend cloud and outbreaks of rain steadily push southeastwards. Cooler and showery conditions follow into northern areas but there is uncertainty about the timing. 

Early next week week it should be generally dry and settled weather as high pressure builds from the southwest again. Later on the the risk of showery rain increases.
