The weather has been unseasonable in recent days but it will be more summery this weekend. Today scattered showers affect the north but most of the UK stays dry and sunny. Tomorrow outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland but elsewhere it remains fine. Next week looks mixed with the driest and warmest conditions in the south.

Saturday starts mainly dry and bright. Through the day isolated showers are likely in the northern half of the UK and this afternoon patchy outbreaks of rain push across the far north. Sunny spells develop widely and it will feel warmer than it has done recently.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to 21(70F) in the south. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow will be dry with warm sunny periods in much of the country. Temperatures could reach the mid 20Cs in the south east. In Northern Ireland outbreaks of rain push in from the Atlantic and later in the day they also reach western Scotland.

Outlook remains quite mixed

Though Monday a band of rain moves southeastwards and fragments. Areas to the south of London probably remain dry. Brighter and showery conditions follow in northern areas.

During Tuesday outbreaks of rain are expected to spread southeastwards across much of the UK. Much of the south and south east of England could remain dry until late in the day.

The rest of the week should bring quite a lot of reasonable weather to southern counties. In central and northern parts of the UK it is expected to stay more changeable with an ongoing risk of showers or longer spells of rain.
