Much of the UK has cloud and patchy outbreaks of rain today. During the coming days a change takes place with brighter conditions returning. It also becomes warmer in southern and central regions this weekend. Next week is expected to be more summery, particularly in the south.

Thursday starts wet in much of the southern half of the UK. In the north it is mostly dry. Through the day there will be further patchy outbreaks of rain across England and Wales. Some brighter spells are likely too, particularly in the west. Scotland and Northern Ireland have sunny spells and showers.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the north west to 18C (64F) in the south. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.
Tonight the rain fades in southern and central regions. Showers continues in the north west and north east with a few heavy ones mixed in. There could also be a few in the south eastern corner late in the night.

Tomorrow brings sunny spells but there will be showers. In the north and east some are expected to be heavy. Temperatures remain disappointing for July.
Saturday is looking dry and bright in most of the county, although there could be some rain in northern Scotland. It will feel a little warmer than recently.
Sunday should be dry and warm in much of the country. Temperatures could reach the mid 20Cs in the south east. In the north west there is a risk of outbreaks of rain returning later in the day.
Next week there should be a lot of dry and quite warm weather in the southern half of the country. In the north it may stay more changeable with an ongoing risk of showers or longer spells of rain.
