August 1992 Wet August 1992 was broadly speaking the wettest August since 1956 across England and Wales with very few locations having below average rainfall. Two of the wettest days of the month were the 8th and the 13th. On the 8th, a warm front moved northwards and thunderstorms broke out across the Midlands and northern England, whilst on the 13th, a wave depression crossed southern parts depositing up to 40mm of rain at Cardiff.
