Thursday starts with showery rain in the west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the morning the showers move northeastwards. There could be some thunder mixed in, particularly in the south east and East Anglia. Brighter skies follow from the southwest and this afternoon showers become restricted to eastern Scotland.

Temperatures won't be as high as yesterday but it will be another warm day. Values range from 15C (59F) in the far north to 26C (78F) in the south east.

Mixed Bank Holiday weekend

Through the weekend the weather will be quite changeable. Wet weather is expected in northern areas on Saturday. There could also be showery rain central and southern counties at times. It will be windy with gales in the north.

By Sunday high pressure starts to build back across the south so the risk of rain becomes increasingly restricted to the north west. Winds will be lighter than recently and temperatures higher.

Bank Holiday Monday is looking fine and warm in most of the UK. The exception is likely to be the far north west where outbreaks of rain are possible.

Mainly settled and warm conditions should continue through the middle part of next week.
