Thursday starts fine across the UK and through the day there will be long sunny periods. Winds will be lighter than recently but still from an east or northeasterly direction. The warmest conditions can be expected in the south and west, but even in the north east it won't be as chilly as it has been.

Temperatures range 14C (57F) in north eastern England to 24C (75F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Cooler next week

During the weekend there are indications of it starting to turn more changeable. Showers are likely to be isolated on Saturday but more widespread on Sunday. Further periods of warm sunshine are expected, especially across England and Wales. In Scotland it turns cooler.

Next week more mixed weather is probable as high pressure declines and a westerly flow returns. All regions could see showery spells of rain and daytime temperatures are forecast to be closer to the seasonal average.
