Southern and central regions have another dry day. The north has a windy day with a band of light rain followed by wintry showers. This weekend it warms up as high pressure builds to the east and winds turn to a south or southwesterly direct. By Sunday temperatures could be approaching 21C (70F) in favoured eastern locations. Thursday starts with showery rain in the north west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the day patchy outbreaks of rain push southwards into north western England and possibly Wales. To the north there will be a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers. To the south and east it stays dry but there will be a lot of cloud and fewer sunny spells than in recent days. Windy in central and northern regions.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to 12C (54F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wintry showers continue in the north and there will be a frost in sheltered locations. Southern and central regions remain dry.

Tomorrow a ridge of high pressure builds across the south and keeps things dry. In the north showers continue and at times they could be wintry. Chilly in the north.

This weekend high pressure migrates eastwards and becomes centred over the continent. That leads to a south or southwesterly flow developing. Saturday will be mainly dry with temperatures similar to recent days. By Sunday it turns a lot warmer and locally 21C (70F) could be reached with values widely ranging between 16C (61F) and 19C (66F). During the the second half of the day outbreaks of rain are likely to push into Northern Ireland and western Britain.
Through Monday and Tuesday a band of rain pushes southeastwards. The rest of the week is looking mixed with the driest and brightest weather in the south and east. At times it could be warm in central and eastern England.
