Much of the UK has fine weather today and tomorrow but patchy spells of rain continue in the north. In the afternoon sunshine it will feel pleasant but under clear skies the nights remain chilly. This weekend colder Arctic air moves southwards and there is a risk of wintry showers in the east....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with light rain in some parts of the north. Elsewhere it is dry and there has been a frost overnight. The rest of the day will be dry with sunny spells in England and Wales. Across Scotland and Northern Ireland patchy outbreaks of rain continue and this afternoon they push into parts of northern England.

Friday should be mostly dry with frost early and late. Sunny spells develop widely and it will still feel pleasant in the afternoon sunshine.  

Through the weekend cold Arctic air pushes southwards across all regions. Showers develop in the eastern half of the country and they could be wintry at times. Nighttime frosts develop widely.
