Temperatures on the rise

Most of the UK has dry weather today and tomorrow but outbreaks of rain continues in the north west. In the afternoon sunshine it will be quite warm but under clear skies the nights remain chilly. During the second half of the week cold Arctic air is expected to sweep southwards and there is a risk of snow in the north....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with rain in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and there has been a frost overnight. The rest of the day will be dry with sunny spells in much of the country and it will feel quite warm this afternoon. In the north west of the UK outbreaks of rain should become patchier.     

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) to 17C (63F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain continues to affect the north west. In other areas it should be dry. Clear spells in southern and central regions lead to localised frost.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. England and Wales have a mainly dry day with sunny spells. In Scotland and Northern Ireland outbreaks of rain continue with the heaviest ones in the west. In sunny areas it will be quite warm. Afternoon temperatures possibly peak at close to 19C (66F) in one or two places.

During Thursday southern and central regions remain dry and bright. In the north a band of rain begins to slowly move southwards. Colder conditions follow into Scotland. 

Cold Arctic air pushes southwards across all regions during Friday and Saturday. Showers become quite widespread and in the north they could fall as snow even at low levels. Farther south a wintry mix is possible with snow over high ground. Nighttime frosts develop widely.
