Mostly dry with sunny spells

Most of the UK has a lot dry weather during the next few days but the risk of rain remains in the north west. In the afternoon sunshine it feels pleasantly warm but nights continue to be cold. During the second half of the week cold Arctic air is expected to sweep southwards and there is a risk of snow in the north....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with patchy rain in the far north west. Elsewhere it is dry and there has been quite a widespread frost overnight. The rest of the day will be dry with sunny spells in much of the country. The exceptions will be northern and western Scotland where outbreaks of rain push in from the Atlantic.

Tonight outbreaks of rain spread more widely across Scotland and into Northern Ireland. Clear spells in southern and central regions lead to a widespread frost.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. Most areas remain dry but outbreaks of rain continue to affect northern and western Scotland. Cloud amounts vary with the best of the sunshine in southern counties. After a chilly start it should feel pleasant in the afternoon sunshine.

Change later in the week

During Wednesday and Thursday southern and central regions remain dry and bright. In the north a band of rain begins to slowly move southwards. Colder conditions follow into Scotland. 

Cold Arctic air pushes southwards across all regions during Friday and Saturday. Showers become quite widespread and in the north they could fall as snow even at low levels. Farther south a wintry mix is possible with snow over high ground. Nighttime frosts develop widely.
