Sunday starts with patchy rain in northern Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and in places there has been a frost overnight. The rest of the day will be mainly dry with sunny spells, although there is likely to be more cloud in the north west. An easterly wind makes it feel quite cold.

Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the east to 12C (54F) in sheltered western areas. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Settled outlook

The settled period is forecast to last for much of the coming week. However, Atlantic disturbances could brush the north west and bring rain at times. Elsewhere the days will be dry with close to average temperatures but there will be nighttime frosts in places.

Towards the end of the period high pressure may become centred in the Atlantic. That leads to the possibility of a raw north or northeasterly flow and an increasing risk of showers.
