Rain spreading eastwards

After a mostly dry start outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across the UK today. The changeable weather continues during the coming days. It will be mild to begin with but during the middle part of the week colder conditions begin to push southwards across all regions....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with scattered showers but many places are dry. This morning outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Through the afternoon they turn heavy and push eastwards. East Anglia and the south eastern corner could stay dry until the early evening. Winds strengthen with gales in parts of the west.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the north west to 11C (52F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the heavy rain fades away in central and eastern regions but it remains cloudy and damp. In the west outbreaks of rain continue. It will be very mild.

Tomorrow patchy outbreaks of rain slowly push southwards across England and Wales. In Scotland and Northern Ireland it turns brighter and showery. Very mild in the south but cooler in the north.

Changeable outlook

During Wednesday outbreaks of rain affect northern England. To the north it will be colder and showery with snow over high ground. Southern and central counties remain milder but there should be some bright spells. 

Cooler air pushes southwards across all regions by Thursday. There will be a mix of sunny spells and showers. In the north showers could turn wintry even at low levels.

The rest of next week is looking changeable with showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average generally, but it will be colder at times, particularly in the north.
