Changeable outlook

A few showers are possible in central and eastern areas on Monday but it should be mainly dry until the afternoon. In the west cloud builds and outbreaks of rain develop. They become heavy and over high ground in Scotland fall as sleet or snow. During the second half of the day they spread eastwards across most of the UK.

During Tuesday outbreaks of rain move southwards. Ahead of them in southern and central regions it will be very mild. Behind them in the north it turns colder and showery.

The rest of next week is looking changeable. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average generally, but it could be colder at times, particularly in the north.
