Outbreaks of rain will affect parts of the south today. Central and northern areas have sunny spells and scattered showers. The showery theme continues tomorrow and the weekend is looking changeable. It will often be quite chilly with a risk of snow in the north....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with outbreaks of rain to the south of London. Elsewhere there are scattered showers. Through the day showers continue in central and northern regions. In the north they could be wintry at times. Outbreaks of rain continue to affect parts of the south with the heaviest outbreaks probably remaining to the southeast of London. 

Temperatures range from 6C (42F) to 8C (46F) in most areas. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight a band of showery rain pushes across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Other areas should be mostly dry, although there could still be some rain in the south east early on.A widespread frost is likely in central and eastern areas.

Tomorrow showers continue in western areas and some of them push eastwards through the second half of the day. In the north they could fall as sleet or snow down to low levels. It remains quite chilly.

Changeable outlook

The mixed weather continues this weekend. Saturday should be dry in central and eastern regions. In the west cloud builds and outbreaks of rain develop. They turn heavy in the north west and winds strengthen. The wet weather clears southeastwards on Sunday morning. It is followed by showery conditions and in the north it remains cold enough for snow over the hills. It will be windy.
