The weather during the rest of the week will be chilly and changeable. Today brings a mix of sunny spells and showers. Tomorrow more prolonged outbreaks of rain and hill snow spread across much of England and Wales. Brighter and showery conditions then return again....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with showers in northern and western areas. Elsewhere it is mainly dry and cold. This morning sunny spells develop but showers in the west begin to spread eastwards. This afternoon some heavy showers are likely in central and eastern England as well as the north west. They will be wintry at times, especially in the north and over high ground.

Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 9C (48F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight it becomes mainly dry and clear periods lead to a widespread frost. Late in the night cloud builds in the south west and outbreaks of rain develop.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain and hill snow spread northeastwards across much of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland remain brighter and showery. In the south west drier conditions could return in the afternoon. It will be cold.

Changeable outlook

On Thursday any rain in the south eastern corner should clear early in the day. Once it does all regions will be bright and chilly with scattered showers. By the evening wet weather reaches Northern Ireland.

Friday looks chilly. A more organised band of showery rain and hill snow could spread eastwards through the day.

The mixed weather continues this weekend. All regions are expected to have a mix of sunny spells and showers. It remains quite cold.
