Showery weather continues today and tomorrow. At times the showers merge to give longer spells of rain and over high ground in the north it will be cold enough for sleet or snow. Unsettled weather continues for much of the week with further wet and windy spells. By the weekend high pressure may begin to have more influence in the south....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts blustery and showery. Through the day heavy showers continue in the north west and over high ground some of them fall as snow. North eastern areas should be drier and brighter. Across England and Wales a more organised band of showers is likely to push southeastwards this afternoon.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wintry showers continue in the north west. Elsewhere it becomes mainly dry with clear spells. Locally there could be a touch of frost.

Tomorrow starts dry but outbreaks of rain quickly reach the west of the UK. Through the day wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across most of the country. Over the Scottish mountains snow is likely for a time. After a chilly start it turns milder.

During Thursday wet and windy conditions spread eastwards across England and Wales. Over high ground in the north sleet or snow is possible. Clearer conditions follow from the west but a few showers develop. Scotland and Northern Ireland could remain brighter and showery throughout the day.
The rest of the week looks mixed. All areas have further wet spells but they will be most frequent in the north and west. High pressure could bring drier periods at times to southern counties. It becomes mild in the south but it could remain chilly in the north.
