Blustery with showers today

Storm Dennis is now moving away but the weather remains unsettled. Today brings showery rain to much of the country. During the coming week all of the UK can expect further wet and windy spells. By the weekend high pressure may begin to have more influence in the south....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with blustery and showery conditions across the UK. Through the day heavy showers continue in the north west and over high ground some of them fall as snow. North eastern areas should be drier and brighter. Southern and central regions have sunny spells early on but showery outbreaks of rain push eastwards and become heavy. It remains windy, particularly in the north and west.

Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wintry showers continue in the north west. Elsewhere it becomes mainly dry with clear spells. Strong winds prevent frost from becoming widespread.

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers to the north. A band of more persistent rain pushes southeastwards across England and Wales. It will be quite chilly and windy.

Mixed outlook

Wednesday starts mainly dry but outbreaks of rain quickly reach the west of the UK. Through the day wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across most of the country. Over the Scottish mountains snow is likely for a time. After a chilly start it turns milder.

The rest of the week remains mixed. All areas have further wet spells but they will be most frequent in the north and west. High pressure could bring drier periods at times to southern counties. It will be quite mild generally.
