Storm Dennis

Storm Dennis will lead to travel disruption and flooding in much of the UK this weekend. Wind gusts of up to 80mph are possible in exposed locations and locally over 100mm of rain could fall. Next week looks unsettled but high pressure may begin to have more influence in the south....READ IN FULL

Saturday starts with patchy rain in much of the country. Through the day heavy and persistent spells of rain push eastwards across all regions. Winds strengthen to gale or severe gale force. There are differences between computer models predictions but gusts of between 50mph and 80mph are likely in most areas. Flooding and travel disruption is expected. 

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the far north to 13C (55F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow the colder and showery weather in the north gradually pushes southeastwards. In the south it remains wet for much of the day but by the evening it probably turns drier. Winds should gradually ease in most areas but strengthen in the north west.

Monday and Tuesday bring a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers. Most of the showers are likely to be in the north and west. It will be quite chilly and in the north showers could fall as snow down to low levels.  

Mixed weather continues for the rest of the week. All areas have further wet spells but they will be most frequent in the north and west. High pressure could bring drier periods at times to southern counties. It will be quite mild generally.
