Sunday starts with patchy rain in northern and western Scotland. In the rest of the UK there has been a widespread frost and there is some fog around too. Through the day sunny spells develop but fog will be quite slow to clear in places. In the far north west it remains damp and there could be an odd shower in the south eastern corner of England.

Temperatures generally range from 5C (41F) to 8C (46F) but where fog lingers it will be colder. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow sunny spells develop in the south but freezing fog could be slow to lift in places. It will be quite cold. The north has a cloudier and milder day with light rain in the west.

Arpege forecast chart 2

Meteo France Arpege, cloud cover, 15:00 GMT Mon 20th January

Settled early next week

During Tuesday cloud and drizzle push down over northern and possibly central areas. In the south it stays brighter and colder with frost early and late.

Through Wednesday and Thursday the cloudier and milder conditions gradually push southwards. Nighttime frosts become patchier in the south. Most areas have a lot of dry weather but there will be some drizzle and light rain at times, particularly in the north west.

Through the second half of the week high pressure declines. That leads to more changeable weather returning as Atlantic disturbances begin pushing southwards.
