Another batch of wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across the UK today. By the weekend a transition to a more settled period begins as high pressure builds from the south. Nighttime frosts and fog could become more widespread than they have been so far this winter....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts wet in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across most of the UK. The heaviest bursts likely to be in the north and west. It will be very windy, particularly in western and south western areas.
Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight it turns drier in the north and clear spells develop. In the southern half of the UK it's a more mixed picture. Outbreaks of rain continue in the south eastern corner and showers feed into the west. Elsewhere it becomes mainly dry.

Tomorrow showery rain pushes eastwards across southern and central regions. Brighter conditions follow from the west. The north has sunny spells but showers are likely in the north west. Temperatures will be close to the seasonal average.

Scattered showers continue on Saturday with quite a widespread frost early and late. Sunday should be dry and bright nationwide. Temperatures will be lower than recently.
The latest guidance suggests high pressure will bring a good deal of dry weather through the first few days of next week, although it may be more changeable in the north west. Nighttime frosts and fog are most likely in southern and central regions. Later on more mixed conditions could begin to return southwards.
