The weather during the rest of the week remains changeable. Today outbreaks of rain push southeastwards. It will be very mild and a foehn effect could send temperatures soaring to 17C (63F) in north eastern Scotland. Cooler conditions return tomorrow....READ IN FULL

Tuesday is off to a very wet start in the north west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the day outbreaks of rain steadily move southeastwards. They will be heavy at times, particularly in the north west. Some bright intervals develop in north east. It will be windy with gales in the northern half of the country.
Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the south east to 14C (57F) in the west. In the Moray Firth area of Scotland a foehn effect makes it even milder and 17C (63F) is not out of the question. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight it turns colder in central and northern regions as the rain moves away. There will be clear spells but in the north west showers return. The south has quite a murky and mild night.

Tomorrow morning heavy outbreaks of rain push into the south west. During the afternoon they spread northeastwards across much of southern and central Britain. The north has a colder and brighter day with showers in Scotland which could turn wintry over the hills.

Wet weather pushes northwards into Northern Ireland and Scotland through Thursday. Over high ground such as the Pennines and southern uplands it could turn to sleet or snow. Elsewhere it should be mainly dry, although outbreaks of rain perhaps feed into southern counties later on. The north has quite a chilly day but the south will be mild.
Friday should be dry in much of the country but in the north west rain returns in the afternoon. Temperatures won't be far form the seasonal average.
The weekend looks mixed. Rain pushes southeastwards through Saturday. In the north it turns colder and showery.
