Wet weather affects the north west of the UK this weekend but elsewhere it will be mainly dry with variable amounts of cloud. The dries and brightest conditions are likely to be in the south and south east. Next week it probably becomes exceptionally mild for a time and there is a chance of temperatures records being challenged....READ IN FULL

Saturday starts damp in much of the north. Southern and central regions are dry with temperatures a few degrees above freezing point. Through the day outbreaks of rain continue to affect northern and western Scotland. Drizzly conditions are also likely more widely western and north western areas. Elsewhere it stays dry and with bright spells and variable amounts of cloud.
Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the east to 11C (52F) in the west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain continues in northern and western Scotland. It remains damp in the west but other areas will be dry and in the south eastern corner there could be a touch of frost.

Tomorrow it stays dry and bright in southern and central regions. The north will be windy and cloudy with outbreaks of rain in western and northern Scotland. A few spots of rain are also possible more widely in the north and west.

During Monday a period of wet and windy weather pushes in from the west. The rain becomes heavy at times but eastern areas probably remain dry until the afternoon or evening. Quite windy.
Tuesday is expected to be exceptionally mild. Temperatures could widely reach 14C (57F) or 15C (59F) and locally to the east of high ground 17C (63F) is possible. Outbreaks of rain spread across much of the north and west through the day.
The rest of the week looks changeable. Wet and windy spells are expected to be most frequent in the north and west but at times they push southeastwards.
