A band of rain pushes southeastwards across all of the country in the next 36 hours. Brighter conditions follow into most areas tomorrow and the weekend is looking mainly dry. Next week high pressure continues to be centred to the south of the UK. Atlantic disturbances bring wet spells to the north and at times they sink southwards....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with rain in the far north west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the day wet weather spreads southeastwards. Central and eastern England remain dry but there will be a lot of cloud. Winds strengthen with gales possible in exposed western and northern locations.
Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the east to 12C (54F) in the west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain pushes into southern and central regions. By the end of the night clearer conditions follow into much of the country but showers develop in the north west.

Tomorrow morning the remnants of the wet weather clear from the south east to leave a mainly dry and bright day. There will be wintry showers in northern Scotland. Temperatures won't be far from the seasonal average.

Saturday looks dry with variable amounts of cloud in southern and central regions. In the north it will be windy and cloudy. Outbreaks of rain are expected to push into western and northern Scotland.
During Sunday rain continues in the far north. It could also turn damp more widely in the west and north west. Central and eastern regions remain dry.
Through Monday a period of wet and windy weather probably pushes southeastwards across all areas. It will be quite mild.
The rest of the week looks changeable. Wet and windy spells will be most frequent in the north and west but at times they push southeastwards. Temperatures generally stay above the January average and at times it could become very mild.
