High pressure returns this weekend

Wet weather clears southeastwards through Friday. Colder conditions follow and in Scotland showers develop and turn wintry. It will be colder in the north.

Through the weekend high pressure builds in from the west. Saturday will be quite cold with patchy frost early and late. During Sunday outbreaks of rain and milder air begin to return from the west.

Next week high pressure is expected to be centred close to the south of the UK. Southern counties should have a lot of dry and quite mild weather. In the north there is a greater risk of wet periods and at times they could spread southwards.
