Areas to the east stay mainly dry and very mild. Southern and central regions have a dry day with a lot of cloud, but at times it could turn brighter.

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) to 12C (54F) in much of the country. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Arpege forecast chart 2

Settled in the south

Little changes on Monday. There could be some patchy rain in Northern Ireland, western Scotland and north western England but elsewhere it should be dry.

Things become more uncertain by New Year's Eve. There is a possibility of outbreaks of rain pushing southeast for a time. At the moment it looks as though it should turn drier again during the second half of the day. Clear periods could lead to a colder night.

Through the rest of the week disturbances from the Atlantic bring rain to the north west. At times the wet conditions could push down across all regions but high pressure should keep southern counties dry for much of the time. Mild at first but perhaps turning colder in the north later on.
