Winter 2019/20 forecast

Tomorrow wet weather pushes northeastwards across western areas. Central and eastern Britain remain dry but after a bright start it becomes increasingly overcast. It will be chilly in central and northern regions but in the south temperatures won't be far off the mid December average.

Milder outlook

During Thursday rain clears northeastwards to leave brighter conditions for a time. Further heavy showers then spread across much of the country and in the west they could merge to give longer spells of rain. It will be quite windy but milder than recently.

Showers and longer spells of rain move northwards through Friday. In the south it could turn drier as a weak ridge of high pressure builds in.

The weekend is looking unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average.
