Unsettled weather set to continue

Eastern Britain has a good deal of dry weather today but showers will be more frequent in the west. The unsettled theme continues through the coming week. On Tuesday there is a low chance of rain turning to wet snow in parts of the south but by Thursday it becomes milder. Sunday is off to a showery start and in Scotland there has been a patchy frost overnight. Through the day showers continue with most of them in the west of the UK. Some will be heavy and over high ground they could fall as sleet or snow. It will be quite windy.

Temperatures range between 5C (41F) in the north to 9C (48F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight spells of showery rain and hill snow spread eastwards across England and Wales but by the morning drier conditions return. In Scotland and Northern Ireland clear periods lead to a widespread frost.

Tomorrow wintry showers continue in the northern half of the UK. Elsewhere it will dry to begin with but outbreaks of rain feed into the south eastern corner in the afternoon. It remains chilly.

Changeable outlook

Tuesday bring sunny spells and showers to the north and west. In the south and south east outbreaks of rain become more widespread. On their western and northern edges there is chance of them turning to sleet or wet snow, particularly over high ground. It will be cold.

During Wednesday another band of wet weather moves in from the Atlantic and it pushes northeastwards across the UK. In the north the rain could turn to sleet or snow, especially over the hills. In the south west it becomes milder.

Through the rest of the week it remains unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average.
