The weather during the rest of the week remains unsettled. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain and it will be cold enough for sleet or snow in the north. Thursday starts wet in much of the north and west. Through the day heavy outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across most of the UK, although northern Scotland could remain drier. Over high ground in the north sleet or snow is likely. During the afternoon showery conditions return to Northern Ireland, Wales and south western England.
Temperatures range between 5C (41F) in the north to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight drier conditions gradually return to northern and eastern areas. In the west there will be heavy showers and some of them could push across southern counties. Windy in the south with gales in the south west. In the north a patchy frost develops.

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny spells and showers which again will be wintry over high ground in the north. During the second half of the day the next batch of wet and windy weather pushes into the south west. Temperatures remain close to the seasonal average in the south but a little below in the north.

On Saturday the showery theme continues in the north. Southern and central regions should be dry in the morning but in the afternoon wet and windy weather spreads eastwards. Over the Welsh mountains and Peak District sleet or snow is expected. It will be quite cold.
During Sunday spells of rain and hill snow spread eastwards across England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have sunny intervals and wintry showers.
Next week starts unsettled but a change begins to take place. High pressure builds to the south of the UK and it should bring drier conditions to the south and east at times. The north and west remain more unsettled. After a chilly start it turns milder.
