Stormy weather, sent by TWO

Storm Atiyah brings very unsettled and windy conditions to much of the UK during the next 24 hours. Its centre will be tracking eastwards taking it on a path just to the north of Scotland. Sunday starts showery and very windy. Through the day showers continue with the heaviest ones affecting the north and west. Over the Scottish mountains they fall as sleet or snow. The driest and brightest conditions will be in sheltered parts of eastern Britain. It remains windy, especially in exposed northern and western locations.

Temperatures range from 6C (43F) in the north east to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Winter 2019/20 forecast

Tomorrow starts windy and showery but it quickly turns drier and brighter from the west. Winds steadily ease through the day and temperatures won't be far from the seasonal average.

Unsettled weather continues

During Tuesday wet and windy weather spreads eastwards across all regions. Gales and heavy rain could lead to travel disruption. It turns mild again.

Cooler conditions return on Wednesday. The morning probably brings sunny spells but showery outbreaks of rain push into the west and spread eastwards through the second half of the day.

The rest of next week is looking unsettled. All regions have rain and strong winds and in the north it could be cold enough for snow on some days, especially over high ground.
