The weekend weather is looking very mixed. All of the UK has some rain but the wettest conditions will be in the north and west. Next week the unsettled theme continues as disturbances sweep in from the Atlantic. There is the potential for disruption due to heavy rain and strong winds in parts of the country....READ IN FULL

Saturday starts dry and mild across the UK. Bright spells develop in southern and central regions this morning but during the afternoon cloud builds from the west. In northern and western areas outbreaks of rain develop and winds strengthen. The rain becomes heavy and persistent in the north west.
Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the north east to 13C (55F) in the west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet weather moves eastwards across all regions. Clearer conditions follow but heavy showers push into the west. By the end of the night persistent rain probably becomes confined to the south eastern corner. It will also be very windy with gales in exposed locations.

Tomorrow morning the remnants of the overnight rain gradually clear from the south east. Much of the south and east then has a mainly dry day. The north and west have showery rain and over the Scottish hills sleet or snow is possible. It will be very windy with gales in the west and along the south coast.

Monday probably starts wet and windy but it should quickly turn drier and brighter. Winds steadily ease through the day. Temperatures won't be far from the seasonal average.
Tuesday brings further wet and windy weather to all regions. Gales are likely and there could be problems with flooding. It will become mild again.
The rest of next week is looking unsettled. All regions have rain and strong winds and in the north it could be cold enough for snow on some days, especially over high ground.
