There are also likely to patchy outbreaks of rain in northern Scotland.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 3

Tomorrow rain spreads eastwards across Scotland and over the mountains it turns to snow for a time. The rest of the UK has another dry and bright day. In the far north west it will be milder than recently but elsewhere it remains quite cold.

Gradual change

Through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday high pressure keeps the weather dry across England and Wales. Daytime temperatures edge upwards but nighttime frosts remain a risk where clear periods develop. Scotland and Northern Ireland have rain at times but also drier periods and it will turn milder.

During Friday outbreaks of rain probably spread southeastwards. Showery conditions follow into the north.

In the longer term things look quite changeable. Dry periods are most likely in the south but all regions see wet and windy spells. In the north it could be cold enough for snow at times.
