Rather cold and changeable weather continues this week. All of the UK can expect showers or longer periods of rain and over high ground there is a risk of sleet or snow. In quieter spells nighttime frosts develop widely. Forecast confidence for next week is low but a very cold air mass to the northeast of the UK may need watching....READ IN FULL
Tuesday starts with outbreaks of rain in the north. Southern and central regions are mainly dry but there are some showers in the west. Through the day spells of rain push southwards and affect most areas at times. It will be windy, especially in western Wales and north western England.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in the north to 9C (48F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight inland areas become mainly dry. Clear spells lead to a widespread frost and in Scotland temperatures locally could fall to -8C (18F).

UK winter 2019/20 Update 3 [NEW]
Tomorrow starts dry and frosty in much of the country. During the day cloud builds and outbreaks of rain push into the south west and southern Wales. It remains cold.

Thursday brings further outbreaks of rain to southern and central regions. They are expected to become heavy and over high ground in Wales may turn to snow. The north has scattered showers but also dry and bright periods.
Friday is looking showery. Eastern England has a lot of cloud but in the north and west sunny spells develop widely. A keen easterly wind makes it feel cold.
Through the weekend things remain mixed and rather cold. During Saturday there is a risk of outbreaks of rain in parts of England and showers elsewhere. By Sunday it probably turns drier in north western parts of the UK.
