The weekend weather is looking very mixed. Today much of the country has heavy rain and there will be gales in the south. In the north it will be quite cold but temperatures in the south won't be too far from the seasonal average. Next week it stays unsettled and over high ground in the north there is a risk of snow....READ IN FULL
Saturday starts wet in parts of the south and west as well as Scotland. Other areas are mainly dry. Through the day heavy rain affects much of England and Wales at times. It remains wet in central and Northern Scotland too. Southern counties have gales and severe gales are possible in coastal locations.
Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the north to 13C (55F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight there will be further spells of rain but also dry periods. Winds gradually ease in the south. It is looking mixed for fireworks displays and some may be cancelled.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 2 [NEW]
Tomorrow heavy showers continue but there will be some drier and brighter periods too. In the south west more persistent spells of rain develop in the afternoon. Temperatures won't be far from the seasonal average.

During Monday heavy showers continue in much of the southern half of the UK. In the north there is a better chance of drier and brighter intervals. It will be quite chilly, particularly in the north.
By Tuesday showers become more scattered. Many inland places could have a mainly dry and bright day.
Through the rest of the week rather cold and changeable weather is expected. Showers or longer periods of rain are a risk and in the north there is a chance of snow at times, especially over high ground.
