The first half of the week brings settled and cold weather. Nighttime frosts develop widely but there will be a lot of sunshine during the days. Monday stars dry and frosty across most of the UK. There are scattered showers in the far north and near the east coast. They continue through the day but it remains dry and sunny for most. There will be more cloud in the south at times and in the south western peninsula it may produce some patchy rain.
It will be chilly. Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the north to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the risk of rain in the far south west remains. Elsewhere it should be mainly dry, although scattered showers are possible in the far north and near the east coast. Clear spells lead to a widespread frost.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 2 [NEW]
Tomorrow will be dry and bright in much of the country. Eastern coastal counties have scattered showers and in the south west there could be more persistent spells of rain. It will be cold with a widespread frost early and late in the day.

The settled theme continues through Wednesday in most areas. It remains chilly and the day is expected to begin frosty in much of the UK.
By Thursday a change begins to kicks in. Outbreaks of rain spread into Northern Ireland and western Britain. Central and eastern areas should stay dry and bright.
Through Friday and the weekend wet and windy periods affect all regions. There is the possibility of further heavy rain and flooding could become an issue again.
