The next few days bring rather cold weather. Nighttime frosts develop widely but there will be a lot of sunshine during the days. By Halloween it looks as though unsettled weather will begin returning from the west. Later in the week there is the potential for further heavy spells of rain....READ IN FULL

Sunday stars with frequent showers in northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is mainly dry and cold. Through the day showers continue in the northern of the UK and they will be heavy at times in Scotland. Over high ground some of them fall as sleet or snow. Southern and central regions remain dry. All areas have sunny spells, but there could be more cloud at times in the south.

It will be quite cold. Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the north to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers continue in the north and there could be an odd one in eastern coastal counties too. Clear spells lead to quite a widespread frost forming by the morning.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 2 [NEW]


Tomorrow will be cold and bright in much of the country. The north and east have scattered showers which could be wintry over high ground. A widespread frost develops overnight in central and northern regions. In the south thicker could may bring patchy outbreaks of rain.

More unsettled later in the week

Tuesday and Wednesday are looking cold and bright. Near the east coast showers are possible. Quite widespread frosts are expected early and late in the days.

During Thursday more unsettled weather begins returning from the Atlantic. During the second half of the day there could be heavy outbreaks of rain in the west. Southern and eastern counties probably remain dry and chilly.

Through the rest of the week wet and windy periods affect all regions. There is the possibility of further heavy rain.
