Wednesday starts wet in much of the country. Through the day outbreaks of rain spread northeastwards and at times they could be heavy. Brighter skies follow from the southwest and by mid-afternoon it should be drier in all areas apart from north eastern Scotland.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in Scotland to 15C (59F) in the far south of England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Showery for the rest of the week

During Friday showers or longer spells of rain affect all of the country. It remains windy and quite cool.

The changeable theme continues this weekend. Saturday brings showers to much of the UK, although they may be more scattered than in recent days. On Sunday outbreaks of more persistent rain are possible in Scotland. Southern and central Britain have sunny spells and showers.

Things become more uncertain next week as high pressure starts to exert more influence. There is a chance of it turning quite cold, but also a risk of very wet conditions due to the boundary between warm and cold air masses becoming close to the UK.
