The weekend is looking mixed. Showers today will be followed by more persistent rain tonight and tomorrow. Early next week another period of wet weather affects much of the country. Drier and cooler conditions then develop for a time as high pressure builds in from the west. Later on it turns more unsettled again....READ IN FULL
Saturday starts with showery rain in parts of the UK. Through the day the showers gradually become lighter and more scattered. In eastern Scotland outbreaks of rain fade away and they are replaced by drier conditions. This afternoon another batch of wet weather pushes into the south west. It will be quite windy.
Temperatures range 11C (52F) in the north to 18C (64F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet and windy weather spreads northeastwards across most of England and Wales. The rain becomes heavy at times.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 2 [NEW]
Tomorrow morning showers and longer outbreaks of rain continue in most areas, although the northern half of Scotland remains drier. Through the afternoon it should brighten up in parts of the south and west. It will be windy, gales are possible in western and southern coastal counties.

Monday starts with a few showers in the north but it should be mainly dry and bright. Through the day further outbreaks of rain spread across England and Wales. They become heavy and possibly lead to localised flooding.
Further wet weather is likely in southern and central regions on Tuesday. In the north it turns colder and showery.
Wednesday is looking mainly dry and quite cold with the risk of frost in the north early and late. Scattered showers are expected and they may fall as sleet or snow over the Scottish mountains.
Later in the week milder and unsettled conditions return from the Atlantic. Forecast details are uncertain at this stage.
