Fine weather

There will be a lot of fine weather in the short term, however a change is on the way. Temperatures tomorrow could reach 27C (81F) locally in England, but the risk of showers increases in the west. Through Sunday rain spreads northeastwards over much of the UK. Next week is looking increasingly unsettled....READ IN FULL

Friday starts fine and chilly across the UK. The day ahead brings long sunny periods to most of the country and it remains dry. It will feel warm and summery. The far north west has more cloud at times and in southern England winds strengthen.

Tomorrow patchy rain spreads into western England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Central and eastern areas stay dry and very warm. Temperatures could reach 27C (81F) in one or two locations.

Unsettled and autumnal outlook

Through Sunday thundery outbreaks of rain pushes northeastwards. Some heavy bursts are likely, particularly in the north and west. Showery conditions follow into the south west and north eastern Britain probably remains dry and sunny for much of the day.

During Monday showery rain steadily clears from Scotland. To its south brighter spells develop but another band of wet weather pushes into the south west. Through the evening outbreaks of rain probably extend across much of England and Wales.

The rest of the week looks quite autumnal. Unsettled weather is expected with all regions having wet all regions seeing rain and strong winds at times. Temperatures return to the seasonal norm.
