Rain in much of the UK today

Much of the UK has wet weather today and there will be some heavy outbreaks of rain around. The changeable theme continues in the next few days. Later in the week high pressure begins to build northwards. It leads to more settled conditions and the days become quite warm....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with outbreaks of rain in much of the country but it is drier in the south and east of England. Through the day rain spreads eastwards. In southern and central regions there are likely to be some heavy bursts. Brighter conditions return to Northern Ireland and in the north of Britain the rain becomes showery. 

It will be cool. Temperatures range 10C (50F) in the north to 17C (63F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the persistent rain clears away southwards. Cloud amounts vary but in areas where clear spells form it will be chilly.

Tomorrow will be dry and bright in England and Wales. In the north west wet and windy conditions return. By the evening heavy bursts of rain reach much of Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rain pushes southeastwards overnight.

Drier and warmer outlook

During Wednesday patchy spells of rain clear southeastwards. Brighter conditions return but scattered showers develop in the north west. It will a little warmer than recently.

Through Thursday outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards across northern and central areas. The south remains mainly dry with some warms spells of sunshine. 

The rest of the week brings a good deal of fine weather to southern and central regions. In the north there is a greater risk of rain but even there things steadily improve.
