Showery rain moving southeastwards

The outlook remains mixed but the weekend should be reasonable. Next week starts on quite an unsettled note with rain in much of the country. Later on the chance of drier and warmer days increases in the south as high pressure centred to the southwest begins to have more influence....READ IN FULL

Friday starts with showery rain in central Britain. Areas to the south are dry and overcast. To the north it is brighter but there are a few showers. Through the day the band of patchy rain moves southwards and it clears away during the evening. Brighter and showery conditions follow from the northwest. It will be quite windy.

Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the far north west to 18C (64F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers fade away. Clear spells develop and it will be quite cold with the risk of ground frost in sheltered northern locations.

Tomorrow should be dry in much of the country, although a few showers are expected in southern counties. In the south east and East Anglia one or two of them could be heavy. Temperatures will be on the low side.

Outlook is mixed

Sunday starts bright. During the day cloud builds but southern and central regions stay dry. In the north showers develop in the afternoon. Through the evening and overnight more persistent spells of rain spread southeastwards. 

On Monday a band of wet weather sweeps eastwards and some heavy bursts of rain are expected. In the north and west it turns brighter and showery. It will be cool for the time of year.

The rest of the week looks mixed. Periods of wet and windy weather continue in the north. Southern counties also see some rain but there should be drier and warmer days too, especially later on.
