Mixed weather continues today

Fair weather

The coming days are looking mixed with showers or longer spells of rain. The wettest weather will be in the north with more focus on drier and brighter periods in the south. It remains quite cool for early September and strong winds add to the autumnal feel at times....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts damp in the north and west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the day outbreaks of rain become heavier in the north west. Southern, central and eastern counties stay dry with variable amounts of cloud. The sunniest spells will be in the south east. By the late afternoon more persistent rain spreads into Wales and parts of western England. 

Temperatures range from 14C (57F) in the far north west to 22C (72F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain pushes southeastwards across the country and some heavy bursts are likely. By the end of the night it will be affecting East Anglia and the south eastern corner. Drier and clearer conditions return to other parts, but in the north west showers develop.

Winter 2019/20 weather


Tomorrow morning wet weather clears from the south east to leave a mainly dry and bright day in the south. In the north heavy showers become widespread and some of them could spread into central and western regions. Most areas have sunny spells but in the north it will be very windy with gales in places. Quite cool.

Cool and changeable

Thursday is looking breezy and cool. Showers affect the north but southern and central regions probably have a good deal of dry weather.

Through Friday another band of rain moves southeastwards. Brighter and showery conditions return to the north and west. It will be windy and cool.  

The mixed theme continues this weekend. Further showery spells of rain are likely. The south continues to have the best of the drier and brighter periods. 

The cool and quite unsettled pattern continues early next week.
