Persistent rain in the north west

Changeable weather continues during the coming days. The driest conditions will be in the south with rain more likely in the north. The weekend looks mixed with rain clearing southeastwards to leave sunny spells and showers. Next week high pressure may begin to build in from the west again....READ IN FULL

Friday  starts with outbreaks of rain in the north west. In central and western Scotland they are heavy. Other areas are mainly dry. Through the day it remains wet in the north west. Northern areas have a lot of cloud generally and it will be windy. Southern and central Britain remains dry and bright.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to 24C (75F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rain radar for the latest view.

On Saturday outbreaks of rain push southeastwards. Blustery showers follow and in the north west they become heavy.The south east of England could be dry and warm for much of the day.

Sunday brings a mix of sunny spells and showers. It will be quite cool in all regions.

The rather cool and showery theme continues early next week. The driest and brightest spells are expected to be in the south.
